Fly

Fly | Paper Doll Tales

I pray that they will fly, even if they’re afraid of heights.

I pray that they will eat pumpkin pancakes on the first morning that feels like fall.

I pray that they will jump waves in the ocean when they’re 60.

I pray that they will put on lipstick and run out to Target, even if they’re wearing baby vomit in their hair.

I pray that they will have always have someone nearby with whom it’s okay to ugly-cry.

I pray that they will find a perfect pair of jeans that is forgiving, no matter how many desserts consumed.

I pray that they will discover a secret garden, make it their own, and eat picnics of French pastries on the grass.

I pray that they will watch an ants’ progress down the sidewalk.

I pray that they will use big words.

I pray that they will choose joy and that joy will choose them, no matter the circumstances.

I pray that they will learn how to keep a houseplant alive.

I pray that they will have dining tables filled with food and friends.

I pray that they will use the good china on a boring day.

I pray that they will dress up for tea parties.

I pray that they will always say their bedtime prayers.

I pray that they will know the incomparable perfection that is fresh-squeezed orange juice.

I pray that they will be good, kind, right, and true.

I pray that they will blow part of their college savings fund on a really fabulous vacation to a really fabulous, life-changing place.

I pray that they will be best sisters, always.
